Shree Gurupeeth, India

Shree Gurupeeth, Trimbakeshwar, Nashik (Maharashtra, India)

“Shree Gurupeeth” was built through the selfless service and contributions of devotees, with each offering their labor and a mere one rupee.

Among the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva in India, Shri Kshetra Trimbakeshwar holds a special spiritual significance. The Jyotirlinga here is unique, manifesting as “Three Lingas,” symbolizing Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh, collectively representing the “Dattatreya” form.

For devotees across the country, the Maha Kumbh Mela, a grand religious festival held once every twelve years, takes place on the holy land of Trimbakeshwar, at the sacred Kushavarta Tirtha. Trimbakeshwar is also renowned as the origin of the Godavari River and as the land sanctified by the presence of sages Gautama and Atri.

In addition to its spiritual heritage, Trimbakeshwar sees millions of devotees gather during Ashadhi and Kartiki Ekadashi to visit Saint Nivruttinath’s shrine with immense devotion. Amidst this sacred land stands “Shri Gurupeeth,” a center that has further elevated the spiritual prominence of Trimbakeshwar. Thousands of devotees visit this divine place daily to seek the blessings of Shri Swami Samarth Maharaj.

Foundation of Shree Gurupeeth

On November 1, 1992, Param Pujya Gurumauli laid the foundation stone of Shri Gurupeeth. The grand vision of Sadguru Param Pujya Moredada for establishing a spiritual university was brought to life through the selfless dedication of volunteers.

To support this mission, devotees adopted the practice of saving one rupee daily and offering their monthly contributions during the monthly Satsang, held on the fourth Saturday of every month at Shri Gurupeeth. These offerings were humbly presented at the feet of the Guru.

Moreover, thousands of devotees contributed their labor, dedicating time and effort to this sacred project. After a decade of relentless work, Shri Gurupeeth stands as a testament to the tireless efforts, sweat, and devotion of the volunteers.

The Symbolism of One Rupee

The “One Rupee Symbol” at Shree Gurupeeth represents the priceless value of that single rupee offered with pure devotion. It serves as a reminder of the extraordinary journey of Shri Gurupeeth’s construction, which was rooted in sacrifice, faith, and commitment.

Shree Gurupeeth is not just a structure; it is a symbol of faith, love, sacrifice, and dedication. It holds a unique place in the hearts of all devotees. Maintaining its cleanliness and sanctity is the moral duty of every devotee. By upholding this responsibility, we express our unwavering faith in sacrifice and devotion, keeping alive the spirit of Shri Gurupeeth.
